The Cincinnati Dulcimer Society held a Bill Taylor

I read your post on Yahoo Sweet Music that you were looking for
photos for Bill Taylor’s dulcimer gallery. Attached is a picture of
the cover of American Fiddle Tunes book. Bill built this dulcimer
specifically for it, and I think it is one of his most
beautiful. I'm proud to say the f-hole design Bill uses on his
dulcimers came from my brother. It's like the dulcimer my brother
built is now a great grandfather! Lois Hornbostel (www.LoisHornbostel.com) |

Bill Taylor built two of my three wooden dulcimers and I love the
mellow sound I get. (It is not bright which is too much treble for
my ear.) His workmanship is superb! Everyone admires the beauty in
the woods he chooses. He also matches the halves of the back. When
you touch it, every edge is as smooth as glass! My newest one I bought from him two years ago at Cullowhee. There were probably five or six builders there. I played each and every dulcimer, and kept coming back to a particular one of his. So that is the one I bought. The first thing I look for in an instrument is the sound. If I don't care for it, I move on to another. I have recommended Bill's instruments to several people. I've also had Bill as an instructor at Cullowhee and Boone. He has a relaxed way of teaching that everyone can follow and enjoy. Dulcimerrily, Joyce Waltman |
